Jasmin
Hello,
My name is Jasmin. I`m 20 years old and I`m from Bern, Switzerland. I`ve been studying to become a nurse and I took a six week sabbatical to go on a short-term mission trip. Since I was a young girl I had a great love for Russia and it was my dream to go to Russia; I got in contact with a mission organization called Youth With a Mission based in Perm. I worked with some orphanages and a local hospice. Additionaly I bought some food for homeless people as well as evangelical books on how to start a relationship with Jesus. Here`s more information about the two ministries:
Village Ministry:
we visited an unwealthy family where the parents had ten children. We taught the children Christian worship songs and brought them toys. Meanwhile we were able to speak to the parents about Jesus. It was difficult for me to see how the famiy lived; only two rooms in the house and a toilet outside. Because the children’s father has no job he can`t provide for all of them to live at home. This family needs a lot of prayer as well as to see God work in their lives.
In another village called Nyrob we spent time inviting young people to come to the coffee house with us. I spoke with two teenage girls and it was really cool for me to build relationships with them.
On the next day my group went to a family`s house who invited us for tea. I gave some hair clips and puzzles to the two daughters of the family. I was very sorry to see how they live their lives. They are often falling into addiction with alcohol and drugs . I would like for them to know more about Jesus and how much He cares for them. The family had three Bibles in their home but confessed that it was to difficult for them to understand; so we encouraged them to try their best and within time they will understand better.
Hospice:
Four times on Thursdays I accompanied the group that goes to the hospice. This is a place of death, a place of pain, sickness and sadness. But we can speak a lot with the patients there and tell them that after this world full of pain and death will come a PERFECT world in heaven for those who believe in Jesus Christ. We encourage the patients, we pray, we sing, we talk, we are quiet, we laugh with the patients and we listen to their stories. ( And we brought bananas :) It was so beautiful for me to see how these people enjoyed when we came to visit them.
We prayed wiith one lady who has cancer. We prayed in the morning and in the evening she had already died! So guys, it’s a really important ministry and may be the last opportunity to talk to people about God and to save their life, before they die.
I would like to say thank you very much for this wonderful time and I want to say to all persons who read this; come to Russia! It`s a wonderful place to serve God and other people.
I hope and I pray, that I can come back soon.
Be Blessed,
Jasmin
