The April 2007 Village Ministry Trip

At the end of April we traveled together with four other people from the local “Calvary Chapel” church to the north of our province.

We visited the village of Tsidva, which is located 420 km north from the city of Perm. After we passed the village of Vilgort the road in front of us simply ended, and as we headed in the direction of Tsidva we traveled on just snow and mud. MORE...

After seeing the awful road and understanding the importance of our mission, we continued on.
Before we arrived at the village, our jeep got stuck in the mud three times and it took an hour or two to get free each time.

Praise God we finally reached the village… just to see empty buildings. We split into four teams and each tried to find some people. We covered a large area of land which was all a ghost village, and kept in contact with one another through walkie talkies, frequently relaying the message, “there’s no one here.”

After an hour of searching, we heard over the walkie talkies that someone found one person. This person told them that four men and two women are left living in the village. We had a good time talking with the people, and were able to meet with them all together as they live together. We shared the Gospel with them and prayed. God touched these people, and Jesus Himself took their loneliness away.
These are the last inhabitants left of the large village that used to be full of life. It was a place where each person was part of a collective group. Today, however, most everyone has left.

We returned tired but happy, because now the villagers of Tsidva have a chance to spend eternity with us in Heaven with Jesus. The same goes for the villages of Iskor and Savino, which we also were able to visit on this April trip.

The Village Ministry team was able to purchase a Russian Uazik to travel to new unreached villages.
Some of the roads in the north are nearly impassable.

Getting stuck only stops us for a little while.

When we arrived at this village it was nearly abandoned. Once a village of 250 people, only 7 are left.

Visitors are a welcome change in this remote village.
